Lands End Lookout

Golden Gate National Recreation Area.

Lands End Lookout has view after view after view, it’s absolutely stunning here. On the Northwestern end of SanFrancisco sits this lovely park with a trail called the Coastal Trail. On this busy and well used trail you walk along the edge of this beautiful city and right along the continent itself. With Cypress and Eucalyptus trees abound they add to the already splendid views you would expect from an area that sits at the mouth of the Golden Gate Bridge.

There is a lot of history here and you can learn all about it at the Lands End Lookout Visitor Center. I’ll be honest, I walked into the visitor center eager to learn about this place but rather quickly I wanted out, it was super busy and packed inside. This being said I had remembered about the Sutro Bath ruins and I followed along the path until I reached them. The Sutro Bath was developed in 1896 and billed as the “largest pool in the world”. In 1966 whatever was left at that time of the original building was destroyed by a fire. Now all that is left are the architectural skeletal remains, of some concrete walls that collect sea water when the tide rises. I find this to be a beautiful and interesting area.

Perhaps now that the world is opening up after the all the Covid shelter-in orders, it may be busy at most destinations. I’m grateful for the world opening up even though I miss destinations when less people were out and about. I’ll definitely try to experience this park again in the future. You might be asking yourself why I have even posted about a place I didn’t get to fully experience? Well the answer is clear to me, I liked everything I did get to see. I kind of fell in love with this part of the world, I seriously can’t wait to come back. For this reason I’m sharing my experience.
